1. Texas Mom Leaves Toddlers in Hot Car

A 19-year old Texas Mom left two toddlers in a hot car for 15 hours, ignoring their cries. Sadly, both girls later died. The mother is being charged with Child Endagerment, but prosecutors are pressing for a Murder charge in the case.

2. 186 Child Predators Arrested in 2-Month Operation

Authorities recently revealed that 186 Southland child predators had been arrested over a 2 month period. “Operation Broken Heart” successfully apprehended the suspects for having child pornography, committing lewd behavior and child bothering

3. Youtube Star Austin Jones Arrested For Child Pornography

Singer Austin Jones was arrested for two counts of possessing child pornography last week. The charges relate to contact 24-year-old Jones had with two girls (aged 14 and 15) on Facebook. It’s alleged that he asked them to send him explicit photographs.

4. Couple Bound, Beat & Burn 10-Year-Old

A man and a woman in Chino Valley, AZ, bound a 10-year-old boy to a chair and tortured him. The boy was not breathing when police arrived and is in a critical condition. The couple have prior felony charges for attempted first-degree murder, child abuse, and aggravated assault.

5. New Hampshire Tops The Kids Count Child Wellbeing Chart

The Kids Count Child Wellbeing data was recently released and New Hampshire tops the table. Scores are calculated for health, education levels and alcohol and drug use statistics.

Scary Mommy makes the list again for an excellent article which deals with parenting kids who are battling depression and have said they want to die.

7. Sony Don’t Sign Up To Cross Play Child-Safety Pact

While Xbox, Nintendo, and Apple are working across platforms in the name of Child Safety, Sony would rather go it alone. Jim Ryan, the head of global sales & marketing for Playstation, suggest Platform cross-play may be harmful for younger gamers.

8. Ohio Lifeguard Saves Toddler On First Day

Jack Viglianco (15) jumped into action when he spotted a four-year-old in trouble in Lakewood, Oh. The 3’6″ toddler was at the pool for a summer field trip and found himself in 4” of water.

9. A Child Proofing Expert Uncovers Hazards

KHSB had a good article on childproofing your home. In the article, a childproofing expert visited a house and pointed out some dangers to a mother with young children. The expert made a great point that it only costs less than $5 to fix these problems.

10. Child Injuries Costs Australia $10 Billion over 10 Years

A report from Australia calculates the costly price of child injuries, mostly caused by playground equipment and traffic accidents. The report finds that 50% of parents suffer from PTSD after their child was injured.

Recalls

Only one kid’s product recall made the news this week.

Little Giraffe Childrens Robe Recall

Around 2,000 Little Giraffe robes were recalled. The Chinese-made product didn’t meet US Flammability Standards.
